Today the LED filament bulbs are so popular and widely used that so many customers want to have them at their own house or stores. It’s not difficult for them to buy them at a local store or online stores like Amazon or even Aliexpress from China. Maybe you are the lucky guy to receive the reliable ones. But with these questions in heart, it will help you understand how to choose led filament bulbs ?

What is the substract material ?

LED Filament bulbs are known as using COG technology (Chip on Glass), but actually glass is not the only substract material that being used. There are mainly four materials, glass, sapphire, ceramic and metal. Glass has the highest light transmittance but bad thermal conduction and not electric conductive. Metal doesn’t transmit light and is very easy to burn out due to bad compact with the led chips and phosphor. Ceramic doesn’t tranmit as much light as sapphire and glass, and Sapphire, which has been used on Iphone cameras, are the best material yet most expensive materilas for the led filament bulbs. In Sunplan Lighting, we have two ranges, one is using sapphire material, the other is ceramic equipped with more powerful led chips to insure the light reliability and lifespan.

What driver do you use ?

People used to ask weather it’s IC or RC drivers. But actually there are even several solutions for RC driver which closely effect the driver reliability. So you may simply ask the suppliers to show you the photos of the drivers and check below:

  • Does the driver have lighting surge protention circuit ?
  • What is the brands of Electrolytic Capacitor being used ?
  • Does the driver have heat dissipation glue ? (depends on the bulb power)
  • Is the circuit layout chaotic or reasonable and well aligned ?

What is the gas filled in the glass bulbs ? And how much ?

Almost all factories are using He and H2 while Sunplan Lighting has got Patent here in application of the Penning Effect. Which brings rapid convection of the gas for faster heat conduction, also help detect gas leakage during the gas-filling process. Inappropriate gas proportion filled will reduce the bulbs reliability and speed up the lumen lose and lifespan.

There are still many questions you could ask, like which led chips and how many pieces are used ? What’s the brand of the silicon glue being used over the led chips ? What’s the gold wire for the led filaments ? I am pretty sure most of the suppliers can’t give you a decent answer. However all of those are greatly effec the whole performance and reliability of the products. And we are proud to see that our bulbs have an excellent performance during the ErP 6000hrs light test. 98.42% lumen maintenance after 6000hrs. The ITS testing lab where our bulbs are being tested, told us you should declare your products to have a lifetime of at least 30,000hrs, not 25,000hrs as you declare. LOL

If you don’t know how to choose led filament bulbs, you could simply write us info@sunplanlighting.com for a quote.
